Content Management System

A CMS is piece of software that allows users to create, manage, and modify content on a website without the need for specialised or technical knowledge. CMS's create 35% of the World Wide Web (WWW), they are very popular tool and allow for a quick and smooth workflow for a lot of organisations.

As CMS software is so common, it can become a key area of vulnerability researchers.  This is due to the fact that the identification of one vulnerability may be able to be leveraged against thousands of applications.

When analysing web applications, it is important to check the underlying software that is being used to identify if there is a way to bypass attacking the application logic, and instead attack the application software.
