What is Linux?

· Linux is an open-source Unix based operating system based on the Linux kernel, created by Linus Torvalds on September 17th, 1991.

· Linux can be used and is used in a variety of settings, for examples, network devices, home Operating Systems (OS), servers and factory equipment.

Why do security professionals use Linux?

· Linux is a versatile OS with a lot of availability for customisation and installation of tools, that can provide security professionals with wide capability to assess assets.

What version of Linux will we be using?

Why are we using Kali Linux?

· A staggering amount of tools are pre-installed within the OS and can immediately provide users with the capability to perform security testing without having to download tools.
